The simple necessity of walking can be a spiritual act. There are many metaphors depicting this aspect. “Walking a straight and narrow” or “Taking the crooked path” and so on. The Druids, as long distance travelers, had an extremely sophisticated sense of direction. During their travels they would pay attention, and acknowledge their surroundings. This acknolwledgement can be done by any during travel. In fact, it can become enlightened as to how we are rooted to the beauty of our Earth, how we are an aspect of it.
