Ovates interact not only with the spirits of the land, but also with the spirits of the creatures around her/him. She/he effects change in the spirit web and guides us to the connection and well-being that our earth has to offer.

The work of an Ovate begins with learning tools of communication and increasing one’s awareness to see the many spiritual worlds. The Ovate understands that all creation has its own spirit force and therefore holds within it the essential wisdom of nature. The Ovate reads the signs given by and through the living world. The Ovate seeks her/his Awen through listening and understanding the living world, mundane world. The Ovate works with the mysteries of time and the cycles of life. Her/his focus is on the nature of life and the release of life at its end, and the nourishing cauldron of darkness and rebirth: The Womb. She/he calls through the mists, honoring the flow of energy on every level. What part of the environment draw your attention and what does it tell you in its pattern?
