Celtic Druids
The Druid is one who composes oneself into ceremonies, present oneself to those of us who have questions or need confirmation and rituals such as marriage, funerals, festivals and rites. A Druid is a guide and teacher. The Druid exists in the inner world, in the mist, the mind. Druids strive to understand all energies (plants, stars, moons, gravity) which influence our journey.
The Druid is of Realists.
Druid as Officiator
In our tradition the status of Druid is not simply granted, or given. We are not all Druids, nor do we pretend that those of this status posses magical powers. A Druid is simply an officiator, a wise person, and a philosopher, someone we may seek out for spiritual advice.
Druids are entrusted with the sacred powers of ritual, ensuring peoples fertility, good health, and continued prosperity. Another aspect of their duties is to establish and administer law matters of tribe. They strive to supply societal stability and guidance to the Celtic nation.
Druidry
The Druid walks into the inner worlds, the landscape, the emotion, reworking the quest according to her/his own soul. The path to becoming a Druid is a constant process of becoming, a life-long task. It is an understanding of nature at its rawest edges. Different planes of conscious ways in which shifts in consciousness can be achieved. It pertains to striving to understand all energies (plants, stars, moons, gravity) which influence our journey.
Folk Druidry
The spiritual community, which gather to celebrate the cycles of the seasons and rites of passage. For some, searching out and studying the sources of the tradition plays an important role in their spiritual adventure. Others are simply happy with today’s ideas of the growing tradition. Yet, there is no evidence; however, that will allow us to see the true clarity of duties revered or ceremonies performed. It is not until the Roman’s began writing their propaganda that we get a picture of what Druid’s might have practiced. For some Druid’s, the work of modern Druidry and those of the eighteenth century are sufficient as a source of modern practice. Modern Druidry is not necessarily a reconstruction from ancient sources. Since a Druid is a philosopher spiritually rooted in/of the land (earth), it has evolved through the needs of the people who live upon the land, balancing just as the environment does. Thus, Druidry is a tradition, which evolves and adapts just as the environment does.
The mystical core of Druidry is a place of great personal dedication, which compels each Druid to focus her/his whole life lit the faith. Surrounding the core is an outer body of Druidic community where the intensity and discipline are not so demanding.
