Awen Symbols
The layers of meaning the sign of Awen holds within it include the importance of three.
The dots represent the three positions of the sun’s raising at the Winter Solstice (SE), the equinoxes (E) and the Summer Solstice (NE). The lines represent the sun‘s rays flowing outward, encouraging life, thus life‘s inspiration. It is energy accessible through Druidry. Each individual must find one’s own sources of inspiration, spirituality and creativity.
One expresses Awen through the skills and crafts that one practices and teaches.
It speaks of the point of exquisite contact that pours out from the source and into a Druid’s Awen.
The ever-flowing Awen that fills the Holy Grail shall be among this culture of peoples’ overflowing. One expresses moments of appreciation in offerings of creativity.
If we can establish connection with the sources of Awen, we establish better attunement to the cycles of ever flowing nature. We establish better attunement to sharing intimacy. We would pour from the grail more strongly through souls we teach. All that one need is the courage to dive deeper into one’s own mystery.
It is for this reason that so much attention is given to ritual, and to the seasons in the course of a year.
Being a tradition that emerged out of a deep desire to connect with the powers of nature within self and around, the importance of seasonal festivals becomes relevant in acknowledging and respecting that one is actually dependant on the flow of nature, the fertility of the land, the flow of seasonal currents and weather systems, and the tides of oceans.
So, by marking the flows of the seasons with festivals, people can better attune to their flows.
As it was with Ancestor’s other people are also subject to the tides of the seasons, whether living in at big city or in a secluded country home, still subjected to rainy days, the chill of snow, the earth drying heat, and fear of hunger.
The harvest is crucial to the well-being of this culture - wherever one lives.
In winter, this culture withdraws to the comfort of modern day hearth fire. It is common to reminisce, to be feeling the energy of the sun, as it rises once more, and to warm the earth in spring. When autumn comes again, this culture will gather up their lives and prepare for the dark of winter.
